Higuain rejects new Napoli contract says agent

It was believed that it would be only a matter of time until Gonzalo Higuain would sign a new contract with Napoli but his agent has now revealed that the striker has rejected the offer.

Nicolas Higuain, agent and brother of the Argentina international, told "Radio CRC": 'We had a meeting with the president in Venice 10 days ago."

"We talked about everything. He offered a one-year contract extension, however, in my opinion - and in our opinion – we will continue with the original contract, expiring in 2018."

Higuain arrived from Real Madrid in 2013 and has played 104 games for the Serie A outfit, scoring 53 goals and having 23 assists.

The agent said: "I don't think we'll accept the president's offer, because the contract isn't that different to the one we signed before, so for us it's not a real offer. We're calm and happy to continue with the current conditions."

But he also revealed: "It seems strange, but the big clubs have not contacted me, nor have I spoken with anyone."
