Southampton seal Caulker loan move

Southampton have confirmed the loan signing of QPR defender Steven Caulker.

The 23-year-old centre-back will spend the 2015-16 campaign at St Mary's, though Press Association Sport understands the deal is not with a view to a permanent move.

Saints have moved for Caulker, who has one England cap to his name, to fill the defensive void left by Toby Alderweireld's move to Tottenham and a serious knee injury sustained by Florin Gardos.

The defender only joined Rangers last season from Cardiff and made 35 appearances as the London club suffered relegation to the Sky Bet Championship.
